Global Roaming when Travelling Internationally

You will need “Global Roaming” access on your phone if you are travelling internationally. Global Roaming allows your telephone to accept and receive calls (and data) while you are travelling internationally. Call your local carrier who will be able to give you access to this service, usually while you wait. Global roaming for telephone will be essential and while expensive in some countries with some carriers, it is usually reasonably priced. Data Roaming is another thing all together. The costs for data roaming are exorbitant. Wherever possible, you should use wifi. Learn more about Wifi when travelling internationally here.

When you make a call overseas, the local carrier (in the foreign country you are in) will automatically bill your carrier at home for the calls and they will appear on your bill at home. You need to know that when you receive a call while overseas, the person calling you pays the same charges that they would pay if they dialed you at home. However, you then pay for your carrier at home to beam the call to you internationally and you pay the carrier in the country you are visiting to send the call to your phone. This basically means that the person calling you will only pay as they would have if you were at home, but then you pay twice to receive the call! It is a good idea to do the calling to save you and/or your company money.
