Adaptors and Power Voltage

You will need to carry electric power point adaptors and make sure you have the right one for the country you are traveling to. These are easily purchased at your outbound port. They are not so easy to purchase once you have arrived at your destination. Unfortunately there are different power point configurations in many countries so you may need to carry several. Some manufacturers make a multi–port adaptor which will align the major countries with your outbound port’s power point. Some hotels have multi-port power plugs which helps. You can always call housekeeping to ask them if they have them available. You will also need to remember your charger, most important!

Here is a “get it right every time”, easy look up tool. Click here Power Voltage Adaptors to find out which one you need for which country! This tool also shows the power voltage in respective countries. This is important if you are travelling between countries with different power voltage. For example, US power voltage is 110 whereas most or Europe, Asia and Australia is 220 or 240. You cannot bring your hair dryer from US to Europe and expect it to work. In fact it is likely to short or even die. Please note that most communication devices (phones, tablets and laptops) are designed to operate on any power voltage level so they will be ok to use in any country.

Hot Tip: Tumi make USB adaptors and Electric Adaptors which align multi-port power points in over 150 countries.
Take a look at the website www.tumi.com for a selection of these products or just search “adaptors” in your browser for suppliers or adaptors.
