Passing through airport security screening with medical conditions requires some preparation. If you have a medical reason that means you cannot pass through a metal detector or body scanner, be prepared. Bring an appropriate letter from your doctor which meets the requirements of the immigration department in your country (the country of your passport).

Also if you have metal bolts or similar inside you (as a result of surgery) it is best to have a letter from your doctor to explain this. This is not required but a good precaution. The metal detector will pick up these items and you will be scanned with the wand to verify it. Body scanners show these up on the screen the immigration officer looks at. The immigration officer will most likely ask you to show where the item is. There are looking for the scar from the operation!
