What is Premium Economy and choosing a premium economy best plane seat just requires some understanding and forward planning. If you are flying long haul, choosing a premium economy best plane seat is critical. On most long haul services, there is a class called premium economy. It may have a specific brand name on the airline you are flying.

It is essentially “half way” between economy and business class. This class usually encompasses a wider economy class seat with longer leg room or seat pitch (up to 25% more leg room) and extra seat-back recline for sleeping. The food and wine menu is also more extensive and better than in economy. The price is about 25-50% more than full fare economy class. The frequent flyer points reflect that and while class is new, the frequent flyer points to price ratio are relatively good value. Other benefits may include greater luggage allowances, larger video screens, in seat laptop power, adjustable head rests, priority boarding and self-service snack and drinks in flight. Most importantly, most airlines offering premium economy on long-haul flights have check-in areas for this class which reduces wait times and bottlenecks at check-in.

Not all flights for a particular airline will offer premium economy service. To learn more about this and what the seat pitch and layout is Click here
