Credit Card Loyalty Programs

Credit card loyalty programs (and charge card) are common and work like airline frequent flyer programs. For every dollar you spend you accumulate points to purchase goods, vouchers and services from the credit card loyalty programs’ online store.

You can also transfer credit card loyalty program points to airline frequent flyer or hotel loyalty programs. In doing this you can add to your points with the airline or hotel program. Some programs also allow you to use a combination of points and cash to purchase goods from their online store. Some programs provide the opportunity to book flights/hotel rooms directly on the credit card company website. Usually the value of points required to book these flights and hotel rooms relative to the amount of money you need to spend is higher than booking directly on the airline or hotel website. So if you have the option, it is best to transfer the points to your airline frequent flyer program first.
