Keep your travel insurance documents easily accessible

Carry your travel insurance card or documents in your wallet if it is small. Or with your travel documents (passport, visa, itinerary) to ensure you know where it is. Alternatively, you probably had the certificate emailed to you so know where to find it on your smart phone in your inbox.

I had a great experience with my travel insurance recently. I rarely claim on it but I had bronchitis as it turned out. I went to the medical center when I could stand it no longer and was not getting better. When I arrived at the medical center (in USA), the receptionist asked me about company insurance. I responded that I hoped to claim it on my travel insurance. She asked for the details, which I was able to look up on my smartphone in my inbox. I gave her the phone with the details opened. She called the insurance company 24 hour telephone number. She spoke to someone on the phone and I could hear her reading my policy number.

When she finished the call and hung up, she said to me that there would be no charge. The whole thing was done over the phone. I then went to the “drug store” she sent me to which across the street (for the prescription) and they charged me the excess $14.85 on a $50 script. The best thing about it was I did not have to do any Insurance Company Claim Form or paperwork!

Hot Tip: Your travel insurance card should be easily accessible to you so keep it in your wallet/handbag or on your smartphone inbox. Otherwise in the unlikely event of a serious issue, someone will have to go to your hotel room to get it for you. It can be looked up at a later time but carrying the card on you will expedite your processing at a medical center or hospital
