There are luggage restrictions domestic flights for all classes of travel. These encompass the number of bags you can take, the maximum weight on any individual piece of baggage and the total weight for checked-in luggage. Separate limits apply to carry-on baggage. Your travel agent or the airline will be able to inform you of these. This is usually printed on your e-ticket but you can also check the airline website or call your travel agent prior to traveling for more information. You will be charged excess baggage for exceeding the limits. Some airlines are extremely strict on these and others not so.

Large luggage items like art folio bags, large camera suitcases, surfboards, skis, etc are becoming increasingly challenging to travel with. Some airlines are happy transport these items. Some airlines will only transport them domestically and some airlines will not transport them at all. Your travel agent or the airline website will have all the information with respect to what can and cannot be taken. What limits there are (if any) is outlined in the luggage or baggage section of the airline website.

If the airline is carrying your large items, they will be tagged when you check in. The check-in attendant will ask you to take the tagged items to another line to put outsized items through a different conveyor system. The reason for this is to protect your large items. Often they will not fit through the regular conveyor system. They will be sent down an alternative shoot or hand carried by luggage handlers.

Make sure you know the luggage restrictions for domestic flights prior to travelling. This way you will not be surprised at the airport with a fee or worse, refusal to transport order.
