Self Check-In Kiosks

Most major airlines at most airports have or are introducing self check-in kiosks. They are straight forward to operate. Just follow the prompts on the screen. You will need your passport, frequent flyer card or booking reference to get started.

This is ideal if you are checking in with no bags as it is much quicker. It can also be used for checking in with luggage. Make sure you have your boarding card and luggage tag receipts for each piece of luggage when you leave the self-check-in area.

Some airlines (eg Qantas) now have an electronic tag which looks like a luggage tag. It is a luggage tag but it also has an electronic tag built in. It negates the needs for a baggage tag. If you have one of these, do not print a baggage tag for that luggage. The reader can only read one and will be confused if it sees both a baggage tag and the electronic tag.
